The Salmaso family is pleased to introduce the new structurel, located in a XIV century mansion, one of a select few exclusive Venetian mansions that face the Canal Grande.

La Locanda de la Spada is the result of a long and complex conservative restoration, carried out with the utmost care and in close co-operation with Venice's Superintendency for Architectural Heritage.

From the main hall, with its restored XIX century frescoes, you will be able to enjoy one of the world's most evocative landscapes, the same landscape that charmed many famous writers and artists of the past, who were able to admire Venice at the peak of its splendour, when ships laden with all kinds of luxury goods used to sail along this stretch of the Canal Grande.

This new and charming Locanda is located on the top floor of Palazzo Marin-Contarini and conjugates all modern comforts with the atmosphere of the past centuries. The sweet melody of the gondolas, rowing along this stretch of the Canal Grande, shall make your experience seem like a dream. Your stay with us shall become memorable, starting with the breathtaking view which you will enjoy from our OBSERVATION TOWER: on clear days, the view stretches from the isle of Chioggia to the mountains and encompasses the whole of Venice's Lido.
